Competitions
A detailed sheet of Merit
Judging Rules can be obtained at the club meetings or by clicking here,
Merit Judgings are held about 5
times during the club year.
Only paid-up members may participate. In addition, there is a
final end-of year competition among members in which a “Digital
Projected Image of the Year” for each division/class and a "Print of
the Year" for each print division / class will be chosen. In additon,
the annual Dankwart Koehler Award for the best overall print will be
presented. Only entries that have won an honor (medal, award or
HM) during the club year are eligible for this Competition.
Merit judgings are held for monochrome projected images(digital or
slide), color projected images(digital or slide), monochrome(B&W)
prints, and color prints. By separating beginner, advanced and salon
photographers, the contests allow members to compare their work with
others at their own level of accomplishment. A major objective in the
merit judgings is to receive constructive critiques from the judge.
Merit Judgings are held in the following Divisions:
Division #1: Monochrome Projected Images (Digital and Slide)
Division #2: Color Projected Images (Digital and Slide)
Division #3: Monochrome Prints
Division #4: Color Prints
A further subdivision into
Classes is usually made in each Division:
Class "B": Beginners & Intermediate Photographers
Class "A": Advanced Photographers
Class "S": Salon Class
